護理是一門藝術與科學的學問，回顧過去自1860年起，護理的始祖－南丁格爾就已運用統計方法於護理研究及病患的照護中。護理臨床決策是一個護理過程，其中包含問題的發現、資料的收集評估與判斷及優先順序的排列、護理措施的合宜及評值。實證護理是護理人員要以嚴謹的態度去批判所有臨床研究雜誌，內容包含資訊科學、臨床流行病學及生物統計等，定義主要的研究和有系統的回顧有關預防或治療、評估（篩檢或診斷）、癒後、原因、品質保證、健康照護經濟計劃或處置等。護理專業也是一門藝術，透過創意思考運用於人性化護理中。

Nursing is the academic of art and science. Florence Nightingale, the ancestor of nursing, had used statistical methods in nursing research and patient care in 1860s. Clinical decision making is a nursing process founded on nursing assessment, establishment of health problems, care plans, nursing interventions, and also the appropriateness and evaluations of nursing care. Evidence-based nursing enables nurses to use strict attitude to criticize all the clinical research journals, such as the information science, clinical epidemiology, and biostatistics. The main nursing research and article reviews contain the cause of disease, assessment (screening or diagnosis), the prevention and treatment, recovery, quality assurance, and the health care plans. Nursing is also an art that provides humanized nursing care through creative thinking.
